Bringing soul into the home.

My objective for this blog is to bring you daily encouragement, family fun, good news, home ideas, humor, real life thoughts, recipes, scriptures and more to bring a little soul into each of your homes.

FAITH– Do you ever question Gods plan for your life? I often ask God that very question. Like most we have an idea of how we think our lives should be and when it doesn’t go to plan we get upset. I myself have had certain ideas of how I wanted my life to go and of course nothing went the way I expected. 3 years ago I bought a piece of artwork from Hobby Lobby that had this scripture on it, it reads as followed: “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord. Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.“(Jeremiah 29:11) What a beautiful statement from our Lord! It wasn’t until 2020 that I actually walked by and read the scripture over and over and then prayed and came to understand that God has had a plan for my life from the start. I AM NOT IN CONTROL OF MY LIFE OR ANYONE ELSE’S. That was a hard reality check for me in the moment and as God was softening my heart I began to trust him with my whole self. Not knowing God was preparing me to lose something I valued. I lost my job of almost 10 years this past September. The Lord gave me a peace the day before I lost my job. I walked into work and recited the words. “Today is the day the Lord has made and I will be glad and rejoice in it” that was something I had never done but immediately in my soul I felt something was coming. Later that afternoon we were sent an email that we needed to work from home the next day as the company was doing layoffs and that HR would be calling those who would be laid off in the morning. Immediately I knew this is what God had been preparing me for. That night I went home and I cried not knowing if I was going to have a job or not. In the midst of my tears I looked up and saw the scripture “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord. Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.“(Jeremiah 29:11). Immediate peace came over me, my tears dried up and I claimed God’s plans over my life. The next morning came 8:20am on the dot I received a phone call from HR and I was advised I was no longer an employee. The peace of God surrounded me as I hung up the phone. I knew from that moment forward God leads my path. So I say to you let God lead your path as he created your life for his plan and purpose. Let me know how God has shown you his plans and purpose for your life!

FAMILY- I don’t know about you but in my home Netflix is no longer doing it, it’s time to get out an old fashioned board game. I know this is foreign to many but a good ole family game night can really bring remedy to 2020. There is nothing better than a little family competition. Do Not, I repeat Do Not always let your kids win, losing is a part of life and the children of today need to experience losing without throwing a fit. It will build character. I have taught my 5 year old to lose with dignity and grace and to always give congratulatory praises to the winner. Let me know what your family does on family fun night!

FOOD- Do you like to cook? I don’t but I have a family I have to feed, so I like to make easy meals that are healthy-ish. Below you will find my go to super easy chicken noodle soup recipe:

Soup Bowl Cliparts, Stock Vector And Royalty Free Soup Bowl Illustrations
Chicken Soup for the Soul
  • 1 rotisserie chicken
  • 6 cups chicken broth or water
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 2 cups of celery
  • 2 cups chopped carrots
  • 1 onion
  • 2 cups egg noodles or noodle of your liking
  • salt & pepper to taste

Bring chicken broth or water to a boil add entire rotisserie chicken to the pot along with bay leaves. Turn heat down to medium and let simmer for 45 min to 1 hour. Once time has passed carefully take out chicken set aside and let cool. Add carrots, celery and onion cook for about 30 to 40 min. Once 30 minutes have passed start shredding chicken (you will have to pull meat off the bone so if that is a no for you then skip this part and have someone else do it or just cook your own boneless chicken) hehe! Once the chicken is shredded add to the pot and cook for another 30 minutes. Take out bay leaves and if at this point it looks like you need more liquid add your choice of broth or water and add 1 cup at a time. Once you have the desired liquid add noodles and let cook for another 20 to 25 minutes or until noodles are done! Add salt and pepper to taste. ENJOY!!! Let me know your favorite easy go to Fall recipes!

FRIENDS– Ever since I became a mom I found myself prioritizing my home life over my social life. I have lost connections with really good friends over the last 6 years after having my son. It wasn’t that I stopped caring about them it was that I didn’t have the energy after working 10 hour days and then coming home to take care of my son and my home. The weekends became lazy days to spend time with my family, recoup from the previous week and to prepare for the following week. To top it off I live in a rural area and most of my friends live an hour away. It got to the point even picking up the phone to send a text took to much of my energy and so time passed and even years with some. I feel this sense of guilt for not maintaining some of my friendship . Do you feel it hard to maintain friendship with others?

HAPPINESS– I read today that the wildfires that destroyed over 2.5 million acres of the land in Australia, is now safe to start releasing the rescued koalas back to their native homeland. Who doesn’t love a cute koala???

Water Can Dramatically Change A Koala

Tell me something that made you happy today?

HEALING- 3 cups of coffee is what healed my soul today!!! Today is Monday Oct 26th and I live in the southwest normally we have fall like weather ranging in the low 50’s to 80’s during this time of the year. Today we woke up to 33 degree temperatures with freezing rain turning into sleet. Now everything is covered in ice and we have 2 more days of below freezing temperatures and freezing rain. Then I received an automated phone call from my sons school advising the district is now on quarantine for the next 2 weeks and the children will revert to remote learning! YAY!!! And now my electricity is out around 7:30pm. What is happening??? Oh yeah it’s 2020! I’m not complaining I am only poking fun of the things we cannot control. But I can control my coffee intake and it took 3 cups today to get me through the day!!! At this point I’d go for a fourth but since the electricity is out that is a no go! Tell me what healed your soul today?

HEALTH- Do you take your vitamins everyday? I don’t but when I do I take a multivitamin, vitamin C & Iron. Here are some tips that I need to utilize and maybe you could to so we can remember to take our vitamins:

  • Set an alarm on your phone
  • Buy cute jars and label them and put them on the counter so they are in site and also aesthetically pleasing
  • Buy a Mon-Sun pill sorter and carry them with you
  • Utilize your spouse, partner, friend or roommate to hold you accountable

  • Tell me some of your tips and tricks on how you remember to take your vitamins/pills.

HOPE- My hope for the evening is that my electricity comes back on. With below freezing temperatures it’s going to get cold. “Lord Jesus I come before you tonight and declare the power be restored in my area and the other area’s in the state that are without power. I pray for the protection of the elderly and they find ways to keep warm. Protect the animals that do not have shelter from the freezing rain and help those who are in need to find warm clothes and shelter. – Amen”. What hopes do you have lately?

LOVE- “In you, Lord my God I put my trust. I trust in you; do not let me be put to shame, nor let my enemies triumph over me. No one who hopes in you will ever be put to shame, but shame will come on those who are treacherous without cause. Show me your ways, Lord teach me your paths. Guide me into your truth and teach me for you are God my Savior and my hope is in you all day long. Remember, Lord, your great mercy and love, for they are from old. Do not remember the sins of my youth and my rebellious ways; according to your love remember me, for you, Lord are good. Good and upright is the Lord; therefore, he instructs sinners in his ways. He guides the humble in what is right and teaches them his way. All the ways of the Lord are loving and faithful toward those who keep the demands of his covenants. For the sake of your name, Lord forgive my iniquity, though it is great. Who then are those who fear the Lord? He will instruct them in the ways they should choose. They will spend their days in prosperity, and their descendants will inherit the land. The Lord confides in those who fear him; he makes his covenant know to them. My eyes are ever on the Lord for only he will release my feet from the snare. Turn to me and be gracious to me, for I am lonely and afflicted. Relieve the troubles of my heart and free e from my anguish. Look on my affliction and my distress and take away all my sins. See how numerous are my enemies and how fiercely they hate me. Guard my life and rescue me; do not let me be put to shame for I take refuge in you. May integrity and uprightness protect me, because my hope, Lord, is in you.” (Psalm 25).
